Jacob Krone Halder Jr

Jacob Krone Halder, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 18, 2015. He was 89 years old. A lifelong resident of Chester he was preceded in death by his parents, J. K. Halder, Sr. and Willie Cofer Halder; a sister, Francis Winston; brother, William F. Halder; and his wife of 56 years, Nancy D. Halder. Jacob is survived by his seven children, Jacob Halder, III, Hunter S. Halder, Barbara McCollum (Randy), Laura Buyalos (Eddie), Matthew P. Halder (Christy), S. Justin Halder (Lorrie), and Paul A. Halder, along with 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was proud to have been a member of the United States Marine Corps and of his service in the South Pacific in World War II. He was the general superintendent and chief estimator for Shoosmith Brothers before he went into business for himself. He was an avid bird hunter and target shooter. When his hunting days were over he loved to load shells or bullets for all his friends or any one that wanted to learn to load. He was a member of the ShoosmithShooters Trap club. Even after he quit shooting he loved to talk with the other members at dinner. He was a lifetime member of the NRA Golden Eagles. He was charter member of the Chester Station Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. After he retired he would eat lunch and see friends every day at Brock's Bar-B-Que and always had a story or a joke to share. Special thanks to his many friends who continued to visit him over the last year. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Sunset Memorial Park.
