Jacqueline Sorrell Greenwald

Jacqueline Sorrell Greenwald, 52, of Chester, VA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, August 11, 2022, after a twelve-year battle with breast cancer.
Jackie was born in Greenock, Scotland on July 1, 1970. She moved to the United States when she was 10 years old, lived in California for a wee bit, and then found her home in Virginia, where she made many lifelong friends. She graduated from Bayside High in 1988 as a proud Navy brat and mom to one, Carl Jr. Eventually, she took pity on a drunken Seabee named Derek, married him, and made two wee lassies, Stirling and Ainsley.
Jackie's family and friends were everything to her. During her long battle, it was a rare day to hear Jackie complain. She chose to lean into her family and friends, finding strength in celebrating the joys of life with the people around her and those she met along the way. Jackie was determined to live every moment she was given to the fullest, making memories, and being sure to take care of everyone. Despite years of invasive treatments, she danced her way through this world as if she owned it. She never met a stranger, and there isn't a kid around that doesn't know her as "Aunt Jackie."
It is no stretch to say that Jackie literally changed the world, for not only those she knew personally but for those who had only ever heard her story. If you knew Jackie, you knew you were loved. If you knew Jackie, you were family. If you knew Jackie, she showed you what it was to fight for the things you love. And though, we would call her a wee sparrow, her impact on this world and our lives was of epic proportions.
And oh, for Pete's sake, we had to let her go. #JACKIESTRONG
Jackie is survived by her husband of 25 years, Derek; and their children, Carl (Alijihna), Stirling, and Ainsley; as well as her parents, Dan and Mary; siblings, Heather (Stephan), Chris (Brynn), Dan (Karen), and Trish (Chuck); and their children, Chloe, Molly (Justin), Tristen, Sierra, Jackson, Marina, Hannah, Amelia, Eva, CJ, Meghan (Zachary), and Brianne (Kale); and a whole host of friends she called family.
Funeral services will be held at Webber Memorial Baptist Church, 7800 Salem Church Rd., Chesterfield, VA, on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 4 pm. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 2 pm - 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a monetary donation to help the family with medical and funeral expenses or a donation in honor of Jackie's love for her dogs to the Chesterfield County Animal Services.
