Jamelle Ameen Barnes, 54 of Raleigh, NC died peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 in her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Jameil and Julia Ameen of Hopewell, VA. Mrs. Barnes grew up in Hopewell, VA and formally lived in the Richmond, VA area. She was a graduate of Mary Washington College and Duke University, was a Deputy Director of Scientific Relations with Bayer Pharmaceuticals and attained Life Master status with the American Contract Bridge Association. Mrs. Barnes is survived by two daughter, Julia Kathleen Barnes of Raleigh, NC, Ashley Elizabeth Barnes of Kill Devil Hills, NC and their father, William Richard Barnes, III of Manteo, NC, two sisters, Roma Lackey of Colonial Heights, VA, Elizabeth Feighner of Laurel, MD, one brother, William Ameen of Manassas, VA and ten nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends, Friday, June 17, 2005 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T.T.Morriss Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2005 at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Bill Wash, pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating.
