James "Speedy" DeBoe Baldwin, 77, of Chester, VA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 18, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lena Baldwin. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Powers Baldwin; sister, Sandra DeBoe Cook (Tom); step-children; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Speedy served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Forrestal for 4 years during the Vietnam War and 2 years in the Naval Reserves. He was a very proud American, and to be able to serve his Country was an honor. He maintained the same profession for 47 years where he developed lifelong friendships.
His hobbies included go-kart racing and restoring antique vehicles. He was a member of Southern Nights Cruisers and could be seen at the Cruise-Ins at Hardee's in Chester.
His remains rest at J.T. Morriss & Son, 3050 W Hundred Road, Chester, VA, where the family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park on Wednesday, February 23rd at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association or Bon Secours Community Hospice House, 1133 Old Bon Air Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23235.
