James Hunter Blackwell, Jr.

James Hunter Blackwell, Jr., 85, of Hopewell, VA passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. Blackwell, Sr. and Rose McKenney Blackwell; brother, Frank Blackwell; sisters, Margaret Patierno and Rosabelle Peterson. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jean Hogue Blackwell; children, Deborah Gibson (Glen), Linda Walton (Randy), James H. Blackwell III, Thomas Blackwell, Nancy Ngoun; grandchildren, Miles Mauger (Amanda), Colin Mauger, Eric Mauger (Kira), Lauren Blackwell, Wade Blackwell, Wesley Wallace (Shana), William Wallace, Makayla Ngoun, Tyler Ngoun; great grandchildren, Ashland Mauger, Mason Mauger, Victoria Mauger, James Hunter Mauger, Madison Wallace, Mason Wallace; numerous extended family and friends. James was a member of Charity Baptist Church and an avid outdoorsmen who enjoyed hunting, fishing and sailing. James loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 820 W. Broadway, Hopewell, VA 23860. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
