James J. â??Buddyâ? Bullard, of Point of Rock Road in Chester, VA, went home to be with his Lord on August 20, 2008. He was a member of Bermuda Baptist Church of Chester. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 to 1951. He was born in Blount County, AL, on June 15, 1929. As a young man he served the Lord in his church as a youth leader. Buddy moved to Chester, VA in 1973 and worked at Allied Chemical where he retired in 1988. He was preceded in death by his mother, Stella Bullard; father, James A. Bullard; brother, Jimmy Bullard; sister, Jean Cawthon; and nephew, Alan Smith. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Louise Bullard; sons, Teddy Anderson of Maysville, WV, and Mitchell Anderson of Petersburg, VA; daughter, Linda Shortt, of Chester, VA; sisters, Eloise Barrick, of Chester, VA, and Willa Cooper, of Alabaster, AL; brothers, Lester Bullard, of Spring, AL, and Leslie Bullard, of Locust Fork, AL; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and a special companion â??Ladyâ?, his little dog. The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Friday, August 22, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held there on Saturday, August 23 at 10 a.m., with interment following in Sunset Memorial Park.
