James Russ Dolbear, 72, passed away on June 14, 2023. Russ was predeceased by his parents, James P Dolbear and Helen Applebee Dolbear.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Alice Alden Dolbear; and her three children, Michael Parrish (Angie), Kim Parrish Dobson, and William Parrish (Becky); and 7 grandchildren.
Russ was born in Annandale, VA, on October 15, 1950, and was a 1972 graduate of Virginia Tech. Russ recently retired from Ruffin and Payne with 36 years of service. He was a train enthusiast and an avid collector of antique trains as well as a member of the Virginia Train Collectors. He was also a member of the T-Bird Club and loved his antique 1956 Thunderbird. Russ never met a stranger and was loved by many in his community of friends. He will be truly missed by all that were fortunate enough to know him.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home - Chesterfield Chapel, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions can be made in Russ' name to the Chester United Methodist Church.
