Evans, James E., 60, of Chesterfield, VA departed this life suddenly on Monday, May 11, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Bill Evans, and brother, Dunbar Evans. He is survived by his loving wife, Tamara Joyner Evans; three sons, Jamie Evans and wife, Carolina, Jordan Evans and John Evans; his stepchildren, Cortney Arnold and Brandon Puster; siblings Anne Rowan Conners and husband, Bob, Becky Romaine and husband, Bill, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and his grandson, Charlie Arnold. Jim was a graduate of Thomas Dale High School, University of Virginia, and University of Richmond Law School. He was a partner in Gilliam & Evans Law Firm in Chesterfield. Jim was a proud member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, and he was very close with all of his fraternity brothers. Not a week went by that the brothers were not in touch! Jim was a very active member of the community and served on numerous boards including: Chesterfield Historical Society, Swift Creek Mill Theatre, and the Chesterfield Bar Association. Jim was a lifelong member of St. John’s Church in Chester. He was the warden of the church and served on Vestry for many decades. Jim’s sense of humor was legendary, and his commitment to his friends and family surpassed all. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 1:00 PM in St. John’s Episcopal Church, Chester. A reception will immediately follow in the Parish Hall of the church. No flowers, please.
