James Clyde Fisher, 91, of Chesterfield, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012. Born in Dinwiddie, Virginia, he was the son of the late Abner and Grayce Fisher. James was also preceded in death by his loving wife Bernice and two brothers, Harold M. Fisher and Harvey Lee Fisher. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra and her husband, Richard Ciofani; sister-in-law, Ella Mae Fisher; two sisters, Patsy Christopher and Betty Coleman and her husband, Leonard; two brothers, Abner G. Fisher and Claiborne Fisher; nephew, Harold Fisher; and niece, Robin Beckwith and her husband, Tommy. James was an Air Force Veteran of World War II. He was thrice decorated, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross, The Air Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters and The Purple Heart. He flew 50 missions over German held territory as a tail gunner on a B-24 bomber. Following the war, James worked for the Federal Reformatory in Hopewell, Va and retired after 30 years of service. For many years, James was a member and honorary deacon of Walnut Hill Baptist Church. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Prospect Christian Church in Dewitt, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior.
