James Griffin

James Saunders Griffin passed away January 31, 2012 in Riverside Convalescent Center, Smithfield, Virginia after a brief illness. Born February 23, 1932 in Martin County, NC, Mr. Griffin retired from public service to the City of Raleigh, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Kiker Griffin; parents, Joseph Redding Griffin and Emma Roberson Griffin in Williamston, NC; brothers, Collins Griffin of Hamilton, NC, John Ashley Griffin of Zion, IL, and Jesse Griffin of Plymouth, NC; and sisters, Ella G. Weaver of Williamston, NC, Retha G. Wilson of Elizabeth City NC, Virginia G. Parker of Conover NC, and Mildred G. â??Lucilleâ? West of Smithfield VA. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and active for many years in the Salvation Army. He leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Suzie G. Todd (Bobby) of New Carrolton, MD and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Williamston, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Salvation Army or the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 15115 Turner Dr. Smithfield, VA 23430.
