James Lawrence Hamm, affectionately known as Jim, 61, of Ettrick, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at his residence. Born in Petersburg, Virginia on November 11, 1959, he was the son of the late Lawrence Edward and Doris Pond Hamm, and was also preceded in death by his brother, John Meredith Hamm.
An avid outdoorsman, Jim was a member of the Matoaca Sportsman Club and also loved going fishing. Jim enjoyed watching football and was a big fan of the Washington Redskins, now known as the Washington Football Team.
He is survived by his sister, Jenny Hamm Dawley; nephews, John “Jay” Dawley III, Jeffrey James Dawley and wife, Katie; great-niece, Evelyn Dawley; great-nephew, Hudson Dawley; aunts, June P. Simmons & Mary H. Hawkins; & other extended family members, many friends and his dedicated furry four-legged companion, Blackjack.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. A reception will follow at Matoaca Sportsman Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Matoaca Sportsman Club, ATTN Treasurer, 4607 Dunkirk Drive, Chester VA 23831.
