James Henry Hawks, Jr. 84 of Petersburg, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2004. He was a lifelong native of Petersburg born the son of the late James H. and Lulian E. Hawks. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. He was an active member and Deacon at West End Baptist church and a retired Training Supervisor at Allied Chemical. He is survived by his wife Anna Felts Hawks; daughter-in-law Joan King Hawks; and granddaughter Alicia H. Burdzel. He was preceded in death by his son James H. Hawks, III and his sister Elizabeth Sherman. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25 at the Mausoleum in Southlawn Memorial Park with Rev. John Crocker officiating. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
