James Warren “Jim” Osborne, 70, of Chesterfield, VA departed this life on Saturday, May 11, 2019 when Heaven opened its gates and welcomed a life-long follower of Jesus Christ to his eternal home.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James L. Osborne and Kathleen S. Osborne. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Beatrice P. Osborne. His Daughter, Kimberly O. Hopkins (Rusty). Two Grandchildren, Sophia and Derrick Hopkins. A brother, John C. Osborne (Lynn) and sister, Marie O. Taney (Wayne). Half Brother, Robbie L. Osborne (Lori). A very dear Aunt, Eula Osborne Lucy (Cal). Sister-in-law, Vickie S. Pace. Nephew, Dr. Bobby Pace. Niece, Cindy Barber. Great Nieces, Cassie, Kyndal and Karly Barber. And, a number of very special cousins.
Jim was born in Richmond VA and has been a resident of Chesterfield County his entire life.
After graduating from Thomas Dale High School, he served in the U. S. Army 80th Division, receiving his honorable discharge in 1974. He graduated from Mosley Flint School of Real Estate and was a 1988 graduate of University of Virginia, Realtors Institute, receiving his Real Estate Brokerage license in 1988.
During school and upon graduation, Jim worked in the family-owned bulldozing business, J. L. Osborne Excavating Contractors, Inc. In 1986 Jim and his Brother, John, purchased the business and continued to serve the company as co-owners and business partners.
Jim’s loyalty and livelihood in the family’s Excavating Business spanned over 50 years. Beyond excavating, his special interests were: real estate, attending NASCAR events with his sister, Football, country and gospel music events and taking short vacations to Carolina Beach. But, above all other interests, and most important in his life, was his faith in God and his love for family and friends. He loved and served at Kingsland Baptist Church for nearly 65 years.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W Hundred Rd, Chester VA. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Dale Memorial Park.
