James Lewis

James Rhodes Lewis, of Petersburg, Virginia died Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at his home. He was born on October 13, 1908 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Esther Watts Lewis Zimmer and James Rhodes Lewis. He spent most of his life in Petersburg. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anne Bundy Lewis; a daughter, Ellen Reid Thurman; a son, James Rhodes Lewis, Jr. and wife, Aurelia, and two granddaughters, Anne Aurelia and Liza Lewis. He attended Hampden-Sydney College and served in the U.S. Army in Europe during WWII. He spent his business career as an insurance agent and retired from the Westfield Companies. He was a communicant of Christ and Grace Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be held at Christ and Grace Episcopal, 1545 South Sycamore Street, Petersburg, VA, on Friday, October 12, 2007 at 11:00 am. The Petersburg Chapel of J.T.
