James Lee Marquis

James Lee Marquis, 88, of Carson, VA, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023. Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Homer and Freda Armstrong Marquis; and was also preceded in death by his loving wife of over 60 years, Mary Louise Marquis; and a brother, William "Bill" Marquis. Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1953, and was honorably discharged in 1957, having obtained the rank of Sergeant. After being discharged he went on to work in the manufacturing industry until his retirement in 1992. Mr. Marquis is survived by his two sons, Jamie and Joey Marquis; one granddaughter, Casey Marquis; a great-grandson, Judon Slader; two sisters, Jackie Parsons and Joan Thompson; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George, VA. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Second Baptist Church, 3355 Johnson Road, Petersburg, VA 23805 in memory of James Marquis.
