Jim Leonard Metzger, "known in Central Virginia as K-95's Catfish," 79, of Chester, VA, passed away peacefully Monday, March 6, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, M. Kay Metzger; son, William R. Metzger II and wife, Amy; son, Richard Pleva and wife, Barbara; son, Daniel Pleva and wife, Christine; siblings, Bruce, Jay, and Laura; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Jim was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas; he was a U.S. army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas. Jim went on to a career in radio, and was a on-air radio personality in Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. He was most known for his time in Central Virginia with K-95 as "Catfish" with the Catfish and Lori morning show. Jim was an avid fisherman, fantastic backyard cook, and enjoyed exploring and touring by motorcycle. He loved meeting and hearing from all K-95 listeners, and loved the fact people still recognized his voice after his retirement. A word from his wife Kay, "I am really gonna miss him!" A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2023, at J.T. Morriss & Son - Chester Chapel, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831. The family will receive friends following the service at Dan's house, 4006 Hamlin Terrace, Chester, VA 23831.
