James Edward "Nickey" Ogburn Sr.

James Edward “Nickey” Ogburn, Sr., 61, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Ogburn. Mr. Ogburn retired as a Sergeant from the Petersburg Fire Department and was also co-owner of Ogburn and Ogburn Trucking Co. He was also a member of Prospect Christian Church in Dewitt. Mr. Ogburn is survived by his wife, Esther W. Ogburn; son, James E. Ogburn. Jr. and his wife, JoAnna; grandchildren, James E. Ogburn, III. and Sydney Ogburn; mother, Pauline Scott Ogburn; three sisters, Diane O. Wiley, Debbie O. Smith and her husband, J.R., and Becky Hammond; two brothers, Bobby Ogburn and his wife, Felecia, and Timmy Ogburn; best friend, Mike Orrell; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Prospect Christian Church, 13505 White Oak Rd. Dewitt, VA 23840. Interment will follow in the Church yard.
