James Alan Parmenter, age 84, of Hopewell, Virginia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 10, 2024. He was born on October 28, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts. Jimmy is survived by the love of his life, Beckie, whom he married on September 27, 1960. He is also survived by his daughter, Jennifer Miller (TJ); granddaughters, Rachel Boswell (Taylor), Alexis Miller and Abigail Miller; son-in-law, Wayne Rice; brother-in-law, Rev. Kenneth Hendricks (Carol); Sisters-in-law, Doris Hendricks and Carolyn Hendricks; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Toni Parmenter Kingery.
Jimmy served four years in the USAF. He attended John Tyler Community College, Richard Bland College and Richmond Technical Institute where he earned his Bachelor of Engineering Degree. He retired from Honeywell after 30 years of service. Jimmy owned and operated Custom Rods in Hopewell since his retirement. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at Enon Baptist Church, 13607 N. Enon Church Road, Chester, on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with inurnment at Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell.
