James Prince “Jimmy” Robinson, Jr., 79, died Friday, May 28, 2004 in his Petersburg home. He was the son of the late James Prince and Fletcher Bailey Robinson. He was a long term member of First Baptist Church and a naval veteran of World War II. He was active in many community programs during his lifetime and was especially proud of being honored for his work on the Bollingbrook Day School building project and his contributions to the reviving of historic downtown Petersburg, were he lived for many years. He and his brother George were the former owners of Robinson’s Market, Model Laundry and the Walnut Hill Cleaners. He is survived by Camille his loving and devoted wife of 56 years; four children, Elizabeth R. Sullivan and husband William T. of Chester, James Prince Robinson, III and wife Margaret A. of Chesterfield, John Bryan Robinson and wife Mary Frances of Ashland and Camille R. Powell and husband John L. of Petersburg; one sister, Martha R. Carter of Newsoms; a brother, George B. Robinson of Petersburg; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Monday, May 31, 2004 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
