Dr. James Lawrence Ruffa, 63, of Colonial Heights died Sunday, December 5, 2010. He was a native of Petersburg born the son of Jacqueline Ruffa King and the late Anthony Joseph Ruffa. Dr. Ruffa was a life long educator and most recently retired as Executive Director of the Appomattox Regional Governorâ??s School. He is survived by his wife Linda Ruffa; son Jay Ruffa and his wife Kellie; daughter Elisabeth Adkins; grandson Steven Ruffa; two brothers Carmine Ruffa and wife Naoko, and Chris Ruffa and wife Jane; two sisters Joanne Ruffa and Cindy Minton and husband Warren; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Major; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 9th from 4 to 7 pm at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 am at Washington Street United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
