James Hubert Shirey Sr.

James Hubert Shirey, Sr., 84, of Chesterfield VA, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017. He was the son of the late Shedrach M. Shirey and Clara Peebles. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Millie Goodwin and Gene Shirey ; grandson Brian Douglas, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Betty K. Shirey; children, Pamela Kelley (Mike), James Shirey, Jr. (Debi), and Kimela Crowder; grandchildren, Colón Crowder, Shaun Crowder, and Justin Crowder; great grandchildren, Brian Douglas, Jr., Mckenzie Crowder, Landon Crowder, and Hudson Belcher; siblings, Betty Ann Bales (Dean), Judson Shirey, and Danny Shirey. He was a United States Marine serving eight years before being honorably discharged. He then went on to work at Fort Lee for the U.S. Army as a System Analyst retiring after thirty-eight years of Civil Service. A funeral service will be held at J.T. Morriss and Sons Chester Chapel, at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
