James Darrell Steele, Jr.

James Darrell Steele, Jr., “Mud Duck” 71, of Stony Creek, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018. Born in Petersburg, VA, he was the son of the late James D. Steele, Sr. and Ann E. Moore Steele. He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Amanda Marie Steele; and previous wife, Joyce W. Steele. He is survived by his wife, Joy Steele; nine children, Shawn Livingston (Tod), Tamara Steele, James D. Steele, III., Mike Wilson, Amy Bucy (Earle), Sherri Eubank (Rick), Virginia Bendle, Theresa Pauline Moriarty (James), and James Carver; 19 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. James was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed with Fort Lee and retired after many years in Civil Service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park.
