James Edward Stephenson Jr.

James Edward Stephenson Jr., 77, of Carson, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Barbara Wells Stephenson; sister Marjorie Aylett; Sons Jeffrey (Charlotte), Jackie; sister in-law Jacquelin Smith (Ken); 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nieces Susan, Cezette, Lori, Kristan, Hannah, and Tracey; nephew Michael; special friend Andy Merhout; a special fishing partner Troy Vaden; and many other friends. James was a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School in the class of 1959. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, former member of the Carson volunteer fire department, and a member of Carson United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, February 14, at the Carson Fire Department, 19806 Halifax Rd, Carson, VA 23830. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 15 at 11am at the Petersburg Chapel of the J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, where visitation will begin at 10am.
