James Kilby Story, 75, of Hopewell, passed away on Saturday May 8, 2010 after a battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Walter and Rowena Ennis Story. Mr. Story was also preceded in death by his step-father, Arthur Coleman, and his youngest brother, Gary Story. In 1995, he retired from Allied Chemical (Honeywell) with over 40 years of service. He was a member of the Hopewell Moose Lodge #1472 and the Beagle Hunt Club. James was an avid fisherman, and loved going to Buxton, N.C.. Over the last numerous years, he met lots of people/friends through his fishing rod repair business. He serviced several stores such as Dances, Castaways, and Surfside. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara A. Story; three daughters, Darlene Merritt and husband, Tom of Hopewell, Wanda Dulaney, and husband Bob of Chester, Tamara Hobeck, and husband Gene of Disputanta; five grandchildren, Brandon and Andrew Hobeck, Travis Merritt, Kimberly and Christina Dulaney; four great grandchildren, Tanner and Braylen Hobeck, Desiree Arce, Jax Hobeck; one sister, June K. Horne; one brother, Benny Coleman, and wife Cindy; brother-in-law, Stanley Hargrave, and wife Becky; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday May 11, 2010 in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service, with the Rev. Nancy S. Clark officiating.
