James "Buddy" Strang, lost his battle with cancer in the early morning hours of January 26, 2024. He was born to Frank and Arebella Jordan Strang on March 27, 1946, and was a lifelong resident of Chesterfield County. He was the owner and operator of Strang's Refuse Service for 20 years and when he wasn't working, you could find him elbows deep in a motor fixing vehicles for friends and family. Buddy was an animal lover and always had at least one rescue dog in his home as well as caring for, sheltering, and feeding countless numbers of strays and wildlife around his property.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Clora B. Strang; sisters, Mary Massey and Jane Putnam; as well as his children, Patricia Avalos and husband, Robert Avalos, Vickie Martin and husband, Chuck Martin, Jason Strang and wife, Monica Strang, Joy Strang and wife, AmyLee Strang; and daughter in-law, Heather Trainham Barton; his grandchildren, Mallory Martin, Madison Strang, Camden Strang, Devon Barton, Matthew Barton, and Josh Barton; and great-grandson, Sammy Barton. He is preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Strang; and sons, Michael Barton and Paul Barton.
Friends and family viewing will be held at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home (3050 W. Hundred Rd, Chester, VA 23831) on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 6pm-8pm. A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 11am, at the same location. The family would like to invite those in attendance to a celebration of life after the service at 2pm, on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Chester Moose Lodge (9500 Jefferson Davis Hwy, North Chesterfield, VA 23237).
