James Turner Welton, 72, of Dinwiddie, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Born in Dolphin, Virginia, he was the son of the late B.C. Welton, Jr. and Minnie Hawkins Welton. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Overman Welton; sons, James Andrew (Ann) and John Gregory (Cassia); granddaughters, Bailey and Sydney Welton; brother, Robert B. Welton (Edna) of Glen Allen, Virginia; nephews, Curtis (Rhonda) and Scott (Pam) of Montpelier, Virginia. Mr. Welton was a U.S. Air Force veteran and retired from Bell Atlantic after 33 years of service. He was an active member of Dinwiddie Lodge No. 136 A.F & A.M. and a Past District Deputy Grand Master for the 29th Masonic District. The family will receive friends form 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7th at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A graveside funeral service with Masonic Rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery in Lawrenceville, Virginia.
