Jane Anderson Bagwell, 80, of Hopewell died Monday, April 3, 2006 in John Randolph Medical Center. Mrs. Bagwell was a native of Hopewell. She was the former executive secretary of the South Carolina Literacy Association and retired from the news staff of the Potomac News. Her career as a news staff member extended over many years and for several newspapers both in South Carolina and Virginia. In her early years, she was employed as an LPN at John Randolph Medical Center and also spent some time employed by the Hercules Powder Co. Mrs. Bagwell was preceded in death by her parents, George Germany & Edna Syfan Anderson, a sister, Mary Kate Anderson Clarke and a brother Burkett Pope Anderson. She is survived by her husband Benjamin P. Bagwell, Sr. of Hopewell, a daughter, Mary Kate Bagwell Reese and her husband Don of Cumming, GA, a son Benjamin P. Bagwell, Jr. and his wife Patrice of Clayton, NC, 4 grandchildren, Cassandra Jane Reese, Reagan Grey Bagwell, Jillian Avery Bagwell and Camryn Bailey Bagwell. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 5, 2006 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A Mass of Christian Resurrection will be held Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 11:00 AM in St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard M. Guest of St. Theresa?s Catholic Church, Ashburn, VA and Rev. Frank Wiggins of St. James Catholic Church, Hopewell, officiating. Interment will be in Appomattox Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Massey Cancer Center at Stony Point, Research Department, 9000 Stony Point Parkway, P.O. Box 980304, Richmond, Virginia 23235.
