Jane Lackey

Jane Hartness Dudley Lackey, of Petersburg, Virginia, died Saturday, November 22, 2008. She was the daughter of the late John Gordon Dudley, Jr. and Maybelle Hartness Dudley of Shelby, NC. In addition to Shelby High School, Mrs. Lackey attended Peace and Limestone Colleges. She is survived by the Rev. Dr. Boston M. Lackey, Jr.; her son Boston M. Lackey, III and his wife Dixie; her daughter, Jane Lackey Rives; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and her sister Angela Dudley Teer of Raleigh, NC. Mrs. Lackey was an outdoor person who loved gardening and creating an environment for all to enjoy. She was also a championship golfer and was loyal to her family and friends. Mrs. Lackey was a faithful communicant of Christ & Grace Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 25th at 2 p.m. at Christ & Grace Episcopal Church. The family will gather for a reception with friends in the Parrish Hall following the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be to Christ & Grace Episcopal Church.
