Jane Snead

Jane Hancock Altice Snead died April 24, 2006 after a long illness. Mrs. Snead had made her home in Petersburg for nearly forty years prior to the onset of illness and a move to assisted living facilties in 2000. Born in Rocky Mount, Virginia, Mrs. Snead was a graduate of Roanoke Business College. She spent most of her professional career in civilian employment with The Department of the Army, retiring in 1978. Mrs. Snead was the widow of Robert Campbell Snead who died in 1978. Her siblings, Frances Altice Compton and Julius Hancock Altice as well as her only niece, Elizabeth Muse Altice Secrist, also preceded her in death. She is survived by a nephew, Richard Hancock Altice his wife Jean, and their daughter, Allison Jane Altice all of Farmville, as well as a devoted friend, Carol Marks Bowman of Prince George. Graveside services are scheduled for Mrs. Snead on Thursday, April 27 at 2:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Palmyra, Virginia. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T.
