Jane Truchan

Jane Smith Truchan, 85, of Petersburg, died Saturday, December 4, 2004 at the Mayfair House in Petersburg. She was the daughter of the late James Rosser and Elinor Grogan Smith. She devoted her entire life to her family and teaching. She began teaching kindergarten at the Modern Kindergarten and Nursery School in Petersburg, then taught at Ettrick Elementary School in Chesterfield Co. until her retirement. She was a Sunday school teacher and a volunteer in her church, community, and at Lakeview Elementary School in Colonial Heights. She is survived by a brother, James D. Smith of Chesterfield, Co.; three daughters, Toni Essary and husband Wil of Stuart, Va., Deni Harris and husband Tom of Colonial Heights Va., Jeanne Johnson and husband Venable of Prince George Co. Va., four grandchildren, T.L. Essary and wife Christine of Stuart Va., Nora Jane Cannon of Richmond, Va., Tony Lunsford of Colonial Heights Va., Ross Johnson of Prince George Co. Va., and two great grandchildren, Alex and Emily Essary of Stuart, Va. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 7, 2006 from 7-8:30 PM at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son.
