Janet Page Jones DeBernard

Janet Page Jones DeBernard, of Hartsville, South Carolina, age 67, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, David Arthur DeBernard; her father in-law, Michael Wallace DeBernard; her brother in-law, Thomas Cofer Woolridge, Jr.; and her parents, Roland Page and Vivian Mae Williams Jones.

Janet was born and raised in Petersburg and graduated from Petersburg High School in 1975. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Radford College (now University) in 1978. After graduation, she worked at VA Tech Library, as a Library Assistant, in Public Services from 1978 - 1981. She then went to Coker College Library in Hartsville, South Carolina, where she worked in the same capacity from 1981 - 2012.

Reading, gardening, bicycling, and traveling were some of Janet's hobbies. She and David were world travelers and traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and the South Pacific. Janet and David were also avid skiers and their favorite place to ski was Davos, Switzerland.

Janet is survived by her sister, Kay Ellen Jones Woolridge, of Chester, Virginia; her nephew, Robert "Bobby" Thomas Woolridge (Leah) and their family, of Southern Shores, North Carolina; several cousins and extended family members.

The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation for the care and kindness shown to Janet while she was a resident at Dunlop House in Colonial Heights.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Janet's name to Radford University's Business Department at 801 E. Main Street, Radford, Virginia 24142 or to a charity of your choice. There will be a private service at a later date.
