Janet Dee Elder Hodges, 58, of Hickory, N. C. died Tuesday, Feb.3, 2004 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. . She was born in Hopewell, Va. Mrs. Hodges was a graduate of the college of William and Mary, Williamsburg where was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She worked in the Hickory Public School System for 20 years as a art teacher and at North State Academy and served as a director of the Piedmont Cotillion. Mrs. Hodges was the daughter of the late John David Elder. Surviving are her husband, Neil Hodges of Hickory, daughter, Caroline Hodges Wyatt and husband, John Andrew Wyatt of Richmond, a son, Chase Bennett Hodges of Asheville, N. C., two grandsons, John Andrew Wyatt, Jr. and Harden Wyatt, both of Richmond, her mother, Alice Baldwin Elder of Virginia Beach, Va. And a sister, Charlotte Elder Marriott and husband, Robert Henry Marriott, of Virginia Beach, Va., a nephew, Evan Wallace Marriott and a niece, Jan Marriott Fentress, both of Virginia Beach, Va. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004 at 2 P.M. in St. John’s Episcopal Church, Hopewell, Va. With Rev. Robert A. Boone, Rector of The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, Hickory, N. C. officiating. Interment will be in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George County. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G.
