Janet Martin Riggs

Janet Martin Riggs, 71, of Colonial Heights, VA, passed away on February 19, 2020. She is the daughter of the late Oliver James Martin and Frances Emory Martin. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Charles P. Riggs; Sisters Adrienne Haynes and Patricia Mason. Mrs. Riggs was a registered nurse at Petersburg General and worked as an emergency room nurse before leaving to raise her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother sister and daughter, who enjoyed gardening and raising her family. She is survived by her son James (Melody) Riggs, daughter Sara (Robert) Velvin, sister Vicky Cromer, brothers Jimmy, Gary, Robin, Paul, Francis, 8 grandchildren Victoria, Madelyne, Harrison, Tristan, Joseph, Mary, Connor, and William, and a nephew Chris (Cathy) Williamson. The family will receive friends on Sunday February 23, 2020 from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A service will be held 11:00 am on Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
