Jean Gray Hazlegrove Sr.

Jean Gray Hazlegrove Sr., 91, of Prince George, passed away on Saturday June 24, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel R. Hazlegrove Sr. and Henrietta Blount Hazlegrove; his siblings, Samuel Hazlegrove Jr., Arthur Whitlock, Rose Whitlock Kerr, Marion Hazlegrove; and his grandson Lee Hazlegrove. Jean served his country proudly in the Navy and was a World War II Veteran, and retired as a training specialist at Fort. Lee and Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland after many years of service. Jean worked at Gould Funeral Home for over 10 years, and was a longtime member of West End Presbyterian Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Jean is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Joyce Hazlegrove; sons, Jean “Woody” Hazlegrove Jr. and his wife Vickey, Dane Hazlegrove and his wife, Debbie, Dale Hazlegrove and his wife, Doris, Brett Hazlegrove and his wife, Janet; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends including his church family. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Monday June 26, 2017 at West End Presbyterian Church 1600 Atlantic St, Hopewell, VA 23860. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday June 27, 2017 at the church, with interment to follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
