Jean Garrett Henry, 80, passed away on May 28, 2012. She was born in Hopewell, VA on June 23, 1931, and was preceded in death by her husband, LTC William Forrest Henry; daughter ; Caryl Jean Henry Maitland; father, James Edward Garrett, Sr., and mother, Nannie Belle Turner Garrett; two brothers, Thomas Nelson Garrett, James Edward Garrett, Jr.; two sisters, Dorothy Garrett Nichols and Virginia Garrett Steger. Jean was a member of Ocran United Methodist and was retired from C & P Telephone Company in 1985 and continued to help run the Precision Tune in Petersburg, with her husband, Bill for many years. She was such a wonderful child of God always loved and encouraged everyone who crossed her path. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Susan Henry Crocker of Colonial Heights, daughter, Lynda Carpenter, (Ron) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; sisters, Pat Dunaway Newton (Woodrow) of Sandston, Mildred Garrett Vaughan (Robert) of Richmond and Gladys Hazel Garrett of Lynchburg; granddaughter, Jacqueline Henry Romero (Carlos) of Colonial Heights; five grandchildren, Jaycie Elizabeth Crocker, Jeremy Lee Maitland, Jayson Garrett Maitland, and Jeana Elizabeth Parke Maitland all of Colonial Heights and Justin Forrest Maitland of Richmond. She is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, and friends. Her favorite Bible scripture was Phillippians 4:13: â??I can do all things through Christ who strengthens meâ?. She made a beautiful mark on every life she touched. She always had a smile, had a heart of gold, and never met a stranger. She was truly an angel. It will be a much sadder place without her, but she is with her precious husband and daughter in Heaven. She will be missed dearly by all her family and friends. Private services were held at the convenience of the family at Southlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Gene C. Tatum officiating.
