Jean Mitchell Hudson

Jean Mitchell Hudson, 98, of Chester, VA, passed away on August 15, 2024. Born in the Borough of New Washington, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Vaughan and Nellie Mitchell. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Thomas Henry Hudson, Sr.; and her sons, Thomas Henry Hudson, Jr. and Sanford Vaughan Hudson; granddaughter, Kathryn Hudson; two brothers and a sister. Jean was a member of the "Greatest Generation" and during WWII, she completed her degree as a Registered Nurse at the Conemaugh School of Nursing, Johnstown, PA, and relocated to Virginia to work at the VA hospital in Richmond, where she met her future husband. Jean loved children and was always available for long talks and sound advice. She was a perfectionist as a homemaker and loved her family above all else. Jean enjoyed the beach, reading and keeping abreast of current events. Her quick wit and one liners were certain to keep you on your toes and laughing. She enriched the lives of everyone around her. She is survived by her children, Robert Hudson (Deborah), Patricia Lampman (Mike), Tracey Clarke (Ray), Marjorie Lampman (Mark); and daughters-in-law, Gail Hudson and Betsy Hudson. Also, her grandchildren, Thomas Hudson III, Amanda Taylor (Mike), John Hudson, Rachel Wilcox (Brett), Candice Foldenaur (Alex), Benjamin Hudson, Rowdy Harrell (Katie), Elizabeth Lampman; and eleven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm, Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 am, on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA.
