Jean Marie Perkinson Joyner, 80, of Matoaca, VA passed away on July 7, 2015. A lifelong resident of Chesterfield County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Beauregard and Annie Bell Rudy Perkinson. She was also preceded in death by six of her siblings, Eddy Wayne Perkinson, Kathleen Perkinson, Woodrow Perkinson, Robert Perkinson, David Perkinson, and Aurelia Best. Jean retired from Chesterfield County after 25 years of dedicated service in the Utilities Department and Treasurers Office. She was a longtime member of Matoaca Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She was also a member of the Chesterfield County Fair Association for many years and managed the baked goods section at the fair, and a member of the Matoaca Woman’s Club. Jean enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing and gardening. She was very creative and enjoyed making crafts of all types. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Henry A. “Penny” Joyner; daughter, Sherry Swanson and husband, Bryan; grandsons, Burley H. Langford, III and wife, Chelsey, and Brian W. Langford and girlfriend, Olivia Jenkins; great-granddaughter, Emma Joyce Langford; sisters, Bernice P. Schenck, Shirley P. Cimburke, Bettie Ann Shelton and husband, Bubba, and Mary P. Chalkley; devoted nieces, Babs Johnson, Sandy Lee, and Joy Cimburke; loving and devoted caregiver, Edith Smith; and her grand-dog, “Rocket.” A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2015 at Matoaca Baptist Church with Pastor Donald Joyner officiating. Interment will follow at Woods United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
