Jeannette Lanier Morriss

Jeannette Lanier Morriss, 93, of Hopewell, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Martha Simons Lanier; one brother, and one sister. Jeannette was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she was Superintendent of the nursery. She also sang in the choir for many years. After her husband passing, she found her true calling in caring for children at home which she did for many years. She is survived by her son, Rennie Morriss and his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Marcia Hudson; grandchildren, Charlie Morriss, Michael Morriss and his wife, Christy, and Heather Grubb and her husband, Joshua; great-grandchildren, Josh Morriss and Jacob Morriss; sister, Eunice Watson; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. Jeannette was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed by all that knew her. A funeral service will be held at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. at the funeral home.
