Jeffrey Lynn Kather

Jeffrey Lynn Kather, 68, was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and raised in McDonald, Ohio. He was a resident of Hopewell, Virginia, and died on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Henrico Doctors' Hospital, after a brief battle with ALS. He was the son of the late James and Charlotte (Grove) Kather. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James D. Kather, Jr.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife of 42 years, Debra Kather; children, Charlene Williford (Phillip) and Jeff Kather (Heather); grandchildren, Kayden Williford, Emma Williford, Izabella Williford, and Logan Kather; siblings, John Kather (Nancy), Joseph Kather (Tabitha), and Janyce Stone (Paul); and several nieces and nephews.

Jeffrey received his bachelor's degree in Career Arts, he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant during his career in the miliary. He was a member of Joy Fellowship and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Buckeye fan.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 6 pm until 8 pm, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 2 pm, at Joy Fellowship Worship Center, 1001 Perrymont Road, Hopewell, Virginia 23860. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ALS.org or Wounded Warriors.
