Jennings Harwood Titus, 87, of Petersburg, died Saturday, March 1, 2008. Born in Stratford, New Jersey, he was the son of the late James Madison and Lillian Marley Titus. He was a graduate of Randolph Macon Academy and served in the U. S. Army Air Corps. during World War II and was a prisoner of war. He was co-owner and Secretary/Treasurer of the E. E. Titus Machine Shop and Foundry Inc. and was a retired employee of Quality Lincoln Mercury. He was a member of the Petersburg Lions Club and Leeâ??s Mill Pond, where he enjoyed fishing. Mr. Titus was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Ridout Titus and a daughter, Evelyn Titus Surdam. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Titus Wolcott and husband, Rob of Virginia Beach and Jenny Titus Culpepper and husband, David of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Lisa Beck Kinton and husband, Chris, Hobbs Wolcott Quattlebaum and husband, Thomas, Frederick W. Beck, IV, Alexander S. Wolcott, Katherine Harwood Culpepper, and David Jennings Culpepper; and a great-grandchild, Parker Elizabeth Kinton. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Greenfield Assisted Living, Crater Community Hospice, and the girls at the Yankee Coffee Shop for their care and support. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 18, at Blandford Cemetery, with The Rev. David Teschner, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the Country Club of Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 840 W.
