Jerelees Jones

Jerelees G. Jones, formerly of Claremont, Virginia, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2004. Born in Buford, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah H. and Josephine H. Green. A graduate of Carthage College, Mrs. Jones was a retired educator with the Surry County Public School System and former owner of the W. H. Jones General Store in Claremont which she operated with her late husband, Walter H. Jones. She was a lifelong member of the Gravel Hill Baptist Church, Surry County. Mrs. Jones is survived by her nieces, Etna G. Carr of Richmond and Regina Benjamin of Maryland; her nephew, Matthew J. Green of Maryland; great-nieces, Etna G. Terrill and Imani C. Green-Carr both of Richmond; a great-great-niece, Isis R. Terrill; and a host of other family and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, at the Abundant Life Christian Church (formerly Gravel Hill Baptist Church), with the Rev. Leon Pettaway officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
