Mr. Jerry Marvin Moody, 72, of Disputanta, VA, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 7, 2021. He was preceded in death by his father, James Marvin Moody, Jr., his mother, Annie Mae Moody, and his older brother, Michael Henry Moody.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carol Kanusek Moody; daughter, Christy Moody Damrath; grandson, Evan Wesley Moody; sisters-in-law, Annie Kanusek, Patricia Clements Moody, Patsy Kanusek; brother-in-law, James Edward Kanusek (Sandy); nephews, Michael Vaughan Moody (Angela) and Russell “Rusty” James Moody (Elizabeth); nieces, Jennifer Burke, Becky Kanusek Mobley (Brian), Sarah Henshaw (Paul), Lauren Moneymaker (Kenny); great-nieces, Amber Moody Jacob (Jeremy); great-nephew, Michael Blake Moody; and numerous other beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Mr. Moody was raised in Petersburg, VA, graduated from Petersburg High School, served in the United States Army Reserves, and retired from Honeywell in Chesterfield. Mr. Moody is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Disputanta and was a former member of Memorial United Methodist Church.
Mr. Moody has a sincere love for his family and friends. He cared deeply for others and had an incredible ability to retain historical information of those he knew. He also loved two beagles, Bella and Wes, who brought him much joy to his final year of life. Mr. Moody also loved vintage cars, NASCAR racing, and his wife’s home-cooking.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home located at 103 S. Adams Street, Petersburg, VA. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, VA.
