Jerry Wayne Whitaker

Jerry Wayne Whitaker, 70, of Chesterfield, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018. He was the son of the late Russell Everett Whitaker Sr. and Myrtle Bowman Whitaker, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Rao Whitaker. Jerry was a 1966 graduate of Matoaca High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam and worked at both Brown and Williamson and The United States Specialty Sports Association for many years. He is survived by his son, Jerry Wayne Whitaker Jr. and wife, Jennifer; two grandchildren, Brooke Olivia Whitaker and Ryan Benjamin Whitaker; a brother, Russell Everett Whitaker Jr. and wife, Gay; two sisters, Carol W. Hunt and husband, Richard, and Bonnie Burton and husband, Donnie; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 9, 2018.
