Jesse Aubrey Williams, Sr.

Jesse Aubrey Williams, Sr. 92, of Prince George, Virginia, died on Sunday, October 14, 2018. Born and raised in Prince George, VA, he was the son of the late James Emmett and Pearl Gertrude Hall Williams. He was a loving husband and father who was preceded in death by his wife, of 63 years, Lydia Virostek Williams. In addition, he was preceded in death by brothers, Willie Williams, Hugh Williams, Everett Williams, and Herbert Lee Williams; and sister, Evelyn W. Banks. He is survived by his four children, Jesse A. Williams, Jr. (Linda), Sandra W. Coggins (Tom), J. Herbert Williams (Dianne), and Cynthia Williams; six grandchildren, Brian Williams, Kerri Williams, Matthew Coggins (Sarah), Christopher Coggins (Allison), Adam Williams, and Sarah W. Anderson (Kris); seven great-grandchildren, Sarah Francis Coggins, Moultrie Coggins, Aubrey Coggins, Emarie Coggins, Maggie Coggins, Greyson Anderson, and Camden Anderson; a brother, Hargrave Williams; a sister, A.V. Hayes (Clarence); and numerous nieces and nephews. Jesse joined the U.S. Navy right out of high school and finished his tour. Upon returning, he came to work at Gale Welding and Machine Co. where he spent his next 42 years as a welder. In 1976 he purchased the business and continued as a business owner for the next 10 years. In 1986 he retired and enjoyed his time with his wife and family. He was a lifelong member of the Prince George Volunteer Fire Department Company 1. Being an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed being a member of Hopewell Hunt Club and Ole Hickory Hunt Club. He loved spending many hours with his sons and grandsons enjoying his favorite sport. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
