Jessie Bishop Anderson

Jessie Bishop Anderson, 89, of Colonial Heights, VA, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Jessie was born in Petersburg, the daughter of the late George Thomas and Eva Wilkerson Bishop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Anderson; grandson, Jason Houck; sisters Doris Brock and Ethel Lee Bishop; and brothers, H. Roy Bishop and L. Nelson Bishop. Jessie retired from the Progress Index after 27 years in the accounting department. She was a life-long member of Blandford United Methodist Church and sang in the choir for 60 plus years. Jessie also served as treasurer of the United Methodist Women Morning Circle Group for several years. She is survived by her children, Patsy Anderson and husband, Danny Lay of Lexington, KY; Charles W. Anderson and wife Mildred of Corapeake, NC; and Trudy Anderson Houck and husband, Michael of Chester, VA; grandchildren, Regina Gilliken of South Mills, NC; Jessica Austin of Chesapeake, VA; George Houck of Richmond, VA; and David Houck of Belmar, NJ, Scott Williams of Taylor Mill, KY; great- grandchildren, Jonathan, Hunter and Kaden Austin and Emily and Charles Gilliken; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 A.M.
