Jewel Fredrick Nichols, 80, of Hopewell, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, August 7, 2005, in Hanover County. He was born in Franklin County, Virginia, and was a resident of this area for many years. He was a retired home delivery milkman for Marva Maid, a retired school bus driver with Overland Bus Company, and a member of the Oak Grove Wesleyan Church, Montpelier, serving as a Sunday School Teacher.
He was the son of the late William Ira and Hattie Richards Nichols and the widower of Louvenia Pauline Nichols. He is survived by three daughters, Juanita N. Lee and Ruby N. Cox both of Hopewell and Rosemary N. Ashbrook of Montpelier, one son Phillip J. Nichols of Colonial Heights, a brother Linford Nichols of Hopewell, two sisters Daisy N. Dowdy and Lillie N. Smith, both of Richmond, 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
On Wednesday, August 10, 2005 the family will receive friends at the Enon Church of God, 900 Enon Church Road, Chester, from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by a brief Devotional Service. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Wesleyan Church, Montpelier, with the Rev. Barry Ashbrook, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
