Jewel Clarke Rose

Jewell Clarke Rose, 83, of Dinwiddie, passed away on February 4, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth E. and Hallie Hearst Clarke, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Caesar E. Rose, Jr.; and a brother, A.B. Clarke. Mrs. Rose was a longtime member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church where she was the pianist for 22 years. She retired from Central State Hospital, where she was a medical records secretary, after many years of dedicated and faithful service. Mrs. Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and was a very caring and giving lady. She is survived by four children, Dennis C. Rose, Kenneth E. Rose, David W. Rose, and Lisa R. Daniel and husband, Pete; eight grandchildren, Jason, Micheal, Ashley, Kyle, Taylor, Katy, Hallie and Abigail; one great-grandson, Ryder; a brother, Robert E. Clarke and wife, Barbara; one sister, Carolyn C. Watson; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Fair, officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Family Cemetery, Dinwiddie, Va.
