Joan Hayes Allen

Joan Hayes Allen, of Chester, VA, passed away on March 13, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Joan's quiet kindness and gentle love touched the lives of all who knew her.

Born and raised in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late C.S. Hayes, Jr. and Frances Hayes. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Nick Allen; her son, Troy, and his wife, Rachel; her daughter, Sandi; and her daughter, Heather, and her husband, Joe; and her grandchildren, Nolan, Layne, Mason, Grayson, and Jordin.

Joan was a dedicated member of her church family for many years, finding joy and purpose in her faith. After more than two decades in the banking industry, she retired to prioritize her health and to spend more time with those she cherished most. In her later years, she found deep fulfillment in her women's Bible study group and treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, whom she adored.

Her warmth, gentleness, and boundless love will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones for a viewing on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00am, at Coastal Church-Bethany Campus, with interment to follow at Dale Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, two organizations that Joan cared about deeply.
