Joan Lee Avery Farfan, 78, of Henrico County, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at St. Maryâ??s Bon Secours Hospital. She was a member of Unitarian Universalist Church in Richmond and was an office manager for numerous doctors during her career. She loved photography, traveling, and writing. Joan was predeceased by her parents Charles Young and Lucy Amy Havens Avery, sisters Lucille A. Isbell and Sara V. Avery, brothers Charles Y. Avery, Jr. and John W. Avery, a nephew Steven L. Avery. She is survived by her loving companion of 20 years, Thomas Whitworth Hudgins; brother, Richard H. Avery, Sr. and wife, Lois; sister-in-law, Rebecca Avery; brother-in-law, John Isbell; 7 nieces and nephews; 13 great nieces and nephews; 4 great-great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted 3:00 pm, August 25, 2012 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 16414 McKenney Highway, McKenney, VA 23872.
