Joe Curtis Griffin, 89, of Lee Street, Hopewell, died Sunday, May 23, 2004 in John Randolph Nursing Home. He was born in New Bern, North Carolina and was a resident of Hopewell for most of his lifetime. Mr. Griffin was a retired foreman with Hercules, Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Lovie Weatherington Griffin; his wife, Clyde Marie Joyce Griffin, three sisters, four brothers and one grandson. Surviving are three daughters, Patricia G. Bishop of Richmond, Judith G. Bolduc and husband, Ronnie of Disputanta, and Brenda G. West of Dinwiddie, three sons, Phillip A. Griffin and wife , Ava of Troy, VA, Curtis L. Griffin and wife, Mae of Broadnax and Larry N. Griffin and wife, Midge of Hopewell, 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at 11 a.m. in Appomattox Cemetery. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Homes.
